The Technology of EST

 

How is a telescope designed? How do you make scientists' vision come true? What are the challenges of developing a technology intended to obtain new and better results than those previously achieved? The Technology of EST is a bimonthly series of articles explaining the engineering and management efforts needed to develop a state-of-the-art facility like the European Solar Telescope.

Written by the EST Communication Office, the series is the logical continuation of the Science Of EST: whereas the former explained the science questions to be addressed by the European Solar Telescope, this one is devoted to the efforts of engineers and non-technical personnel (such as project managers) to develop and implement the cutting-edge technological solutions that will enable the telescope to meet its scientific goals. The posts are also published in EST social media channels under the hashtag #TechnologyOfEST.
