WP06000
Workpackage WP06000 and its subworkpackages sWP06100, sWP06200, sWP06300, and sWP06400 are in charge of the Multi-Conjugate Adaptive Optics (MCAO) optical design.
WP06000, led by KIS, coordinates the MCAO design in compliance with general project methodology, providing feedback to the project system engineering WP03000 and managing WP01000. It collaborates (together with WP03000) in the definition of the interfaces between MCAO wavefront sensing, the correction systems and the telescope subsystems. An important objective is to provide a technology demonstration of AO/MCAO wavefront sensing in compliance with EST requirements. It also contributes to the general project plan and financial budget (MCAO part).
The different subworkpackages provide periodically information to the sWP06000. Their main tasks are to:
- define the alternatives of their subsystems in phase I of the conceptual design study,
- lead the trade-off analysis of design alternatives in phase II,
- specify the design and lead the analysis corresponding for the selected solution in phase III.
- sWP06100, led by KIS, provides the design for an AO/MCAO system according to the number of deformable mirrors (DMS) derived from system analysis and/or flexible optical design that can accommodate 2-5 DMs (work led by WP06000 in cooperation with WP02000, WP03000 and WP04000). Other sWP6100 participants are INAF and AISAS.
- sWP06200, led by KIS, provides specification of the WaveFront Sensor (WFS). Other sWP06200 participants are IAC and UU.
- sWP06300, led by KIS, makes system analysis to choose the optimum WFS and wavefront reconstruction method. Turbulences profiles measurements and SRD are the inputs for this analysis and for the corresponding numerical simulations. Other sWP06300 participants are UToV and RSAS.
- sWP06400, led by KIS, provides the specifications of the deformable mirrors (DMs) including their cooling system.
