WP04000
Workpackage WP04000 and its subworkpackages sWP04100, sWP04200, sWP04300, sWP04400, and sWP04500 are responsible for the optical design of the telescope.
WP04000, led by THEMIS, coordinates and controls the main optical design production process and optical design tasks in compliance with general project methodology, providing feedback to the project system engineering WP03000 and managing WP01000. It defines technical requirements for the optical telescope system from the SRD. It also contributes to the general project plan and financial budget (telescope optical design part).
The different subworkpackages provide periodically information to the WP04000. Their main tasks are to:
- define the alternatives of their subsystem in phase I of the conceptual design study,
- lead the trade-off analysis of design alternatives in phase II,
- specify the design and lead the analysis corresponding for the selected solution in phase III.
- sWP04100, led by THEMIS, produces the optical design of the main telescope in accordance with the SRD. Other sWP04100 participants are IAC, KIS, UU, MPG and RSAS.
- sWP04200, led by THEMIS, generates the optical design of the auxiliary full-disk telescope. Other sWP04200 participants are AIASCR and UFP.
- sWP04300, led by THEMIS, provides the optical design of the transfer optics routing the main beam from the primary focus to the science instruments focus (WP07000). It integrates the location of the active optics (tip-tilt, AO, and MCAO) in the main optical design (cooperation work with sWP06100). Other sW0P4300 participant is KIS.
- sWP04400, led by UU, is in charge of the design of the polarization optics taking into account the scientific objectives (WP02000), the telescope (WP04000) and the instruments design (WP07000). The appropriate polarization optics for the narrow band imagers (sWP07200) and the spectrographs (sWP07300) will be in the form of polarization modulators for real time measurements and/or in the form of calibration optics. Other sWP04400 participants are KIS, MPG, OBSPAR and IAC.
- sWP04500 led by THEMIS finds and defines a design solution of the science foci for the instruments. It precises location of these foci with their optical specifications to be used as input to the instruments design (WP07000). Other sWP04500 participants are IAC and KIS.
