Fan-shaped chromospheric jets ejected from a light bridge (1/2)
Swedish 1-m Solar Telescope
Chromospheric fan-shaped jets ejected from the light bridge of a decaying sunspot. These jets extend to several thousands of kilometers and move at hundreds of km/s. They are driven by magnetic reconnection between the umbral field and the more horizontal field of the light bridge. The sunspot (AR11785) was observed with CRISP on 2013 July 05 between 8:11 and 9:38 UT.
From left to right, the panels of the image and the movie represent the blue wing of the H-alpha line at ∆λ = -0.77 Å, the nominal line center, and the red wing at ∆λ= 0.77 Å, respectively.
