XVI Scientific Meeting of the Spanish Astronomical Society

The 16th Scientific Meeting of the Spanish Astronomical Society, organised jointly with the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (IAA-CSIC), was held at the Parque de las Ciencias Museum in Granada (Spain) from 15 to 19 July 2024.

The primary aim of this meeting is to offer young researchers from various research centres a meeting point in a friendly yet scientifically rigorous environment, as well as to serve as a contact forum for the Spanish astronomical community.

Among all the parallel sessions, symposia, and special meetings held during the 5-day event, EST was also present. Luis Bellot, senior researcher at the IAA-CSIC, gave a talk titled 'The Tunable-Imaging Spectropolarimeters/Fixed-Band Imagers for the European Solar Telescope'.

In the talk, scheduled in the Instrumentation session of the meeting, Bellot presented the science goals, the science requirements, and the current state of the development of the TIS/FBIs, including the optical design, the optimisation of the etalon system, and estimations of the instrument transmission, photon budget and total exposure times needed to reach the required signal-to-noise ratios.
