70th Anniversary of the Slovak Academy of Sciences

The Slovak Academy of Sciences celebrated its 70th anniversary this year by treating science and research enthusiasts to a weekend full of outreach activities. Scientists and researchers captivated the public with their exhibitions and presentations while surprising them with their sincere efforts to explain even the most challenging topics in accessible language. On the weekend of 23-24 June, the Slovak Academy of Sciences bridged the gap between the world of science and the general public for a few hours, proving that they are not as distant as they may seem.

On the square in front of Eurovea in Bratislava, there were more than 50 stands with over 200 scientists, each representing scientific and research institutions from all over Slovakia. Material from the European Solar Telescope, including a model of EST produced with a 3D printer, was showcased in the stand of the Astronomical Institute of the SAS during the weekend.
